Sunshine, good day! The blue of the sky invites you to stay in the fresh air. We plan a shorter trip because some of us plan to work on Saturdays, upon returning home, so we will not go a long way.
hum i Glagolitic Alley They seem to be the ideal choice.
We park at the foot of Roč, near the 1st Glagolitic monument. And from the 1st to the 11th, the last, 7 kilometers of paved road is a gentle ascent. Of course, we plan to go back downhill and then by car to the Hum tavern where a table reserved for dining awaits us from 1 pm.
We need to hurry!
Renowned for its emblem…
All 11 individual monuments are located along the road itself. It's two-way, no sidewalks for pedestrians.
During the summer rush, this certainly wouldn't be a smart choice for us. Because we hear from the locals that about 15 buses a day pass through here.
How do they just pass by?
Renowned for our renown, we've reached the last. It is the entrance door through which you enter the town. They say the smallest in the world.
This is a beautifully imagined open-air museum, available to visitors 0-24h all 365 days of the year.
The memorial features of the literacy of Croats would be even more striking if at least once a year someone dedicated a day or two to their maintenance.
Words, even those carved into stone, disappear slowly, but inexorably, if one does not keep them legible. It's a pity!
Just a few brush strokes, a little chemistry and a lot of pressure water would make a big difference.
hum
It is dangerous with ramparts, and within them the church, stone houses and squares, old homesteads. You can feel the spirit of ancient times.
There's something wild and untamed about this area. On one side Učka rises steeply, on the other side there are gentle hills in the direction of Buzeština.
Hum tavern
We don't have time for a longer tour now. We're postponing it after lunch.
We return to the car and rest and refreshment in the the Hum Tavern.
It is tasted here biska, brandy for which Hum is well known due to its secret recipe. For the unaccustomed to alcoholic fierceness, Teranino Aura is still a better choice.
The food is exactly what you expect at the tavern. Bread is the king of food. Two baskets (8 feta) were enough to pick up from the plate everything that could not be brought with the cutlery to the mouth.
And after a great refreshment, we go on a tour of Hum.
The streets are rocky, humpback, there are many houses in ruins, but there are also renovated ones that harmoniously fit into the view of the town.
And in one of those, a store with Aura products. Work, we'll get in!
Bye-bye HUM sweet home!
A very simple path, the whole route is essentially an asphalt road. The only more demanding point is the final kilometre in front of Hum, but this is also nothing special.
