Sveti Lovreč

With the arrival of autumn, the bustle of the financially successful COVID tourist season 2021 has calmed down. The owners of the Tavern can afford a free weekend, so the challenge is to look for a suitable place for a post-walking meal.

Once again we are in Istria, and the place of departure are Vošteni because the kitchen Tomaž's taverns He also works in the post-season.

The route we are walking on today was arranged by us using Suunto mobile application. The conditions were a circular trail with a small altitude difference of up to 15 km in length, with a starting point in front of the already mentioned Tomaž's tavern. Copyright is waived for the benefit of all interested parties. ⁇

Experience has taught us that the tracks that are declared as official, have very weak markings on the ground. So we decided that we would either work alone or prepare well for the official trails as if there were no markings.

And now the way under your feet...

...Vošteni – Zgrabljići – Orbani – Lakovići – Heraki – Pajari – Sveti Lovreč – Jakići Dolinji – Selina – Vošteni.

Immediately, we see Istrian villas, larger objects, almost typical for those of us who have walked along and across Istria. With each pool, or enlarged bathtub. ⁇

FINO, FINO

There are more new buildings lined with industrial stone than genuine renovations of old buildings.

The road is wide, mostly macadam. A few cars pass here and there. And all the squads salute, waving. Kind people. One of them even stopped. He feared that illegal immigrants were in front of his house. ⁇

And the villages and hamlets we pass through are in a beautiful symbiosis with nature. The warm colors of autumn rest. It's calm and tame. Olive groves and vineyards at every step. Well-groomed and well-groomed.

And from Pajar a beautiful view of the tower St Lawrence 's. We approach the ramparts in front of which there is a large field of lavender and olive trees.

Sveti Lovreč

The place seems to be trapped in the ancient past. Well-preserved ramparts embraced the tower, the church of St. Nicholas. St. Martin's, dating back to the 11th century, the town loggia.

the City Gate

It would be possible to enjoy this stone-paved square, but we walkers crave coffee halfway through the road.

A round trip brings us to the old Gothic-shaped gate. Unfortunately, there is no catering facility inside the historical walls, so we can find a place for a break outside of them.

A little rest and coffee bring back energy. And in the continuation, we again enjoy the beautiful rural Istrian ambience. In the village Jakići Dolinji animals rule.

At the finish line...

The trail is not demanding, but still enough for a walker to get hungry.

We are a little early, but the place in the tavern is already ready to wait. This time we won't be by the fire of an open fireplace. We're not that cold yet.

And it's a good thing we didn't, because the hostess puts in front of us more types of brandy that will overheat us. Bottles are without labels, different colors, tastes and palate pleasant. We're free to serve.

Guys pick a route and a hawthorn, and they stress their heads. Jaaaa-ko! ⁇

Cups don't count. The driver has to be careful, the others don't.

On the daily menu (100 kn) is maneštra, homemade sausages with capus and cake. Guys will do it, and the female part will be fuži with porcini mushrooms and fuži with truffles. The bread is freshly baked under the baking lid.

Again, we've gone a little overboard with the quantities...

And before returning home, we jumped back to the Puč spring. For thirsty animals, a place for refreshment (and socializing), because there is always water in the stone pool.

We did this walk in three sections. The trail is lighter because the altitude differences are minimal. We walk along local roads – mostly paved here and there are macadam roads. The first section was Vošteni – Sveti Lovreč. For the most part along the road are modern villas with swimming pools and cultivated agricultural areas. The second section is from Sv. Lovreč, where we stopped for a short coffee break back to Voštene – mainly through fields and forest areas. Walking on wide forest roads, it's really easy. The last section was leg stretching after an abundant lunch – a shorter circular path.
